About this test
This test measures glucose (sugar) levels in the blood after an overnight fast (minimum 8-12 hours). It is used to screen for diabetes and prediabetes.
Before the test
- Fast for 10–12 hours before collection. Overnight is easiest; water is fine.
- A small sample from a vein in your arm.
- Fluoride tube (grey), 1 tube
